Bridal Tips : On Your Shopping Day
Who and What should I bring to my first appointment?
Sometimes it might seem like a good or fun idea to bring a lot of friends and family with you to your appointment, but trust us, it isn’t. Two or three people whose opinion you trust and value is a much better option. More people equals more stress, just what you don’t need.
Bring along the details of your wedding (where, when and at what time it will be), your vision of how you picture your wedding, your research (pictures and styles you like) and of course an open mind.
Ordering or Purchasing off-the-rack
If the time allows, Schaffer’s always recommends ordering your dress new. When you order a dress it generally takes 5-7 months to arrive, so make sure you have enough time before your wedding to get the dress in and have your fittings and alterations completed. An ordered dress has never been tried on by anyone else and is considered new. Off-the-rack dresses are the in-store samples. These dresses generally have some wear to them because they have been tried on by other brides in the showroom. If you’re under a tight deadline or you are tight on budget an off-the-rack dress may be a good option for you because they are immediately available and may be discounted because of wear.
If you find the dress of your dreams, by all means, order it now. If you’re looking at gowns far out from your wedding day, you should keep in mind that things can change rapidly in the fashion industry. Often, intricate beading or lace designs may be discontinued which could lead to that dress you love being unavailable closer to your wedding day.
