Keep the following things in mind as you are preparing for your upcoming event.
First and foremost, make sure you are measured correctly.
Set up fittings in advance, especially if you need a week night or weekend appointment.
Try on your dress or tuxedo as soon as it arrives in the store.
Make sure you submit bridesmaid measurements right away to allow plenty of time for the dresses to be ordered and altered.
If you are a bridesmaid, be aware of any customizations the bride wants made to your dress and tell the seamstress at your first fitting.
Try on your dress approximately 2 weeks before the wedding to ensure a perfect fit.
After alterations your dress or tuxedo will be steamed. Make sure it is properly stored prior to the event to avoid wrinkling.
Be aware of what style the dress is to determine the correct fit of the dress.
Be sure to go over your measurements and pick a size with a consultant right away.
Try on the dress to be sure you feel comfortable with the style of the dress.
If you are a bridesmaid and planning on becoming pregnant, plan accordingly when selecting your size. It is also a good idea to order extra material just in case.
Scheduling Gown Fittings
Your first alterations/fitting appointment should be scheduled at least 3 months before your wedding date. To schedule your first alterations appointment, you can call us at 515-288-0356 or use our Request Alterations Form
It is extremely important that you wear the shoes and undergarments to your fittings that you plan to wear on your wedding date.
Your first fitting for a bridal gown may last from 45 minutes to an hour, sometimes more. A bridesmaid’s first fitting will be slightly shorter at around 30 minutes.
For a bridal gown you should expect to have 3 fittings and a separate appointment to pick your dress up from the store. Bridesmaids usually require 2 fittings and a separate pick-up.
