Tuxedos Tips : The Day of Your Event

Be prepared

Make sure you know how to properly tie or attach your tie and put in the cuff links.

Its a good idea to bring a lint roller along with you to the event for a quick grooming before any pictures are taken.

Make sure all of the members of your party wearing tuxedos have appropriate socks to wear with them.

Make sure you hang your tuxedo appropriately to avoid wrinkles on the day of the event.

How to use a Zipper Tie

A zipper tie is essentially a regular tie with a permanent knot and a zipper mechanism inside it, which allows you to adjust the width of the neck accordingly.

Adjusting the zipper tie is an easy process; To start with, take hold of the small end of the tie and the knot. Once you have done so, you can slide the zipper up by holding the small end firmly and sliding the knot up.

Do not try to take the tie apart!

How to put in Studs/Cuff Links

Studs are to be placed in the first four button holes excluding the top most button. The studs take the place of the buttons.
The cuff links are to be placed in the cuff hole. They are used the same way as the studs.

Once in place, flip the stopper 90 degrees to end up perpendicular.

How to tie a Windsor Knot

Start with the wide end (B) of the tie on your right side, extending about a foot below the narrow end (A) of the tie.

Cross the wide end of the tie (B) over the narrow end (A) and back underneath.

Bring the wide end of the tie (B) up and over itself, turning it down through the neck loop.

Pass the wide end of the tie (B) around the front of the tie (A), from left to right.

Bring the wide end of the tie (B) behind and up through the neck loop.

Now bring the wide end of the tie (B) down through the knot in front. Tighten carefully and draw the knot up to the collar.

How to tie a Bow Tie

Start with the left end (A) extending 1½” (4 cm) below the right end (B).

Cross (A) over (B) and pass up through the neck loop.

Form the front loop of the bow by doubling up (B) and placing it across the collar points (as shown in step 4).

Hold the front loop of the bow with your thumb and forefinger of your left hand. Drop (A) down over the front of (B).

Form the back loop of the bow by doubling up (A).

With the folded end facing left, pinch and poke the doubled up back loop (A) through the knot behind the front loop (B).

Pull the opposite folded ends of the front loop (B) and the back loop (A) out from the shirt to tighten the knot.

Even the ends and turn down the collar points, tucking them in between the bow and the tie’s neck strip.

How to Fold a One Point Pocket Square

Lay your pocket square flat with one corner facing up and one corner facing down.

Fold the bottom corner of the pocket square up to meet the top corner, dividing the pocket square in half.
